5 cheap tools for working remotely

With the government restrictions on many critical industries, teams are suddenly finding themselves working remotely without the usual face to face collaboration of the modern office. Luckily we have had team members spread across the country for 5 or more years and we've practiced using some pretty effective tools to remain highly productive.

Zoom Video meetings

There are many video systems out there at the moment including Microsoft Teams, Skype, Skype for Business etc but zoom.us is the one we pick above all. it has regular reliable video and is excellent for client meetings because they don't need a paid account. We have our remote teams running it full time so we can always collaborate and chat as if they were present.

Trello

This is an excellent way to have the virtual Kanban board like you might use on a physical whiteboard. Trello lets you setup for free and invite other unpaid users. It gives cool functions like letting you setup a address where you can email data into the board without having to open your browser.

Smartsheet

Don't look past smartsheet.com for an easy to use spreadsheet with formulas, rules and automation's. This company must be pouring money into development because it keeps getting better and better every month. Share data between your teams in realtime for free.

This is a fast, secure and easy to use messaging platform for group chats and video meetings. We have a range of chats from specific departments to a whole team wide chat. The whole company chat is an awesome motivator where everyone can share good news, challenges and photos of their current work.
